Jeffrey Anthony

Jeffrey has an extensive performance history on saxophone. As a member of the Joseph Wytko Saxophone Quartet, he was on the roster of the Arizona Commission on the Arts and performed throughout the southwestern United States. The quartet also performed two tours of Mexico as part of the Festival Internacional Cervantino, was the Ensemble-in-Residence for the Ernest Bloch Music Festival Composer’s Symposium in Newport, Oregon, and performed as invited guests in the historic East Room of the White House. The group produced a CD recording, Waterworks & Firemusic, which is available on the TimeGrabber digital label.

A versatile musician, Jeffrey has played in the pit orchestra for various musical productions throughout the country, performing on clarinet and bass clarinet, flute and piccolo, oboe, and piano, in addition to saxophone. Jeffrey currently maintains a busy performance schedule as soprano saxophonist with the Fountain Hills Saxophone Quartet.

The group has been named Artists-in-Residence at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church and, in that capacity, they represent the church throughout the valley.

Jeffrey earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Indiana University (Bloomington), a Master of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from Arizona State University (Tempe) where he was a graduate teaching assistant, and a Master of Sacred Music degree in Choral Conducting from Luther Seminary (St. Paul, Minnesota). His saxophone teachers have included Eugene Rousseau and Joseph Wytko.

Since 2017, Jeffrey has served as the Traditional Music Director at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church.
