Desert Hills Community School of Music
Desert Hills Community School of Music serves the North Scottsdale, Carefree, and Cave Creek areas with world-class music instruction for all ages and ability levels. Located at the foot of the boulders on the scenic campus of Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, our offerings include:
- Group and private music lessons for keyboard (piano, organ), plucked strings (guitar, ukulele, mandolin), woodwinds (flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone), brass (trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba), strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass) and voice
- An audition-based Advanced Music Program (AMP) for children ages 7-18 who show extraordinary dedication to musical excellence
- A Music Exploration program for children ages 6-10 who show early interest in music
- Community ensembles for all ages, including Saxophone Ensemble, Flute Choir, and Community Band
- Instrument-specific masterclasses, in partnership with the Scottsdale Philharmonic, to help students prepare for Regional and All-State band and orchestra auditions
- Summer Band Camp for middle- and high-school musicians (June 3-7, 2024)

Svetlana Obregon Saens in Concert
DHCSM co-Artistic Director Svetlana Obregon Saens performs in concert with the Scottsdale Philharmonic on Sunday, May 5 at 4:00pm. She will be performing as soloist on Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 with guest conductor Nickolas Carlson. Tickets start at $20. Students and veterans are free!
Student year-end performances May 4
DHCSM school-age students will perform in a year-end recital on Saturday, May 4 at 4pm and 5pm. Come out and hear young musicians show off what they have learned this year on piano, saxophone, cello, guitar, and more. The performance is open to the public and each recital will last approximately one hour.
Band Camp
June 3-7, 2024
Registration is now open for the second annual Desert Hills Band Camp. With an all-star faculty line-up, daily concerts by pro musicians, small & large ensemble playing, and all-new electives, this year's camp promises to be filled with lots of fun, new friends, and musical growth.
