Give your young musician the perfect introduction to the world of music! Music Exploration is a dynamic group class designed to spark curiosity, build foundational skills, and pave the way for a lifelong musical journey.
Through interactive, hands-on activities, students will explore a rich variety of musical concepts, including:
Vocal & Rhythm Studies: Developing pitch and steady pulse through singing and rhythm games.
Instrument Discoveries: Up-close exploration of different instruments, including special hands-on introductions to the piano and the harp!
Creative Composition: Encouraging young minds to write simple compositions, crafting their own unique songs and lyrics.
Foundational Skills: Introducing note reading and the joy of ensemble playing with peers.
A World of Song: Exploring diverse musical styles, from classic children's literature to vibrant global music.
This course serves as an ideal preparatory step for children who may be interested in transitioning into private lessons in the future. Join us as we discover, create, and share the joy of music together!
Music Exploration is led by DHCSM teaching artist Jocelyn Obermeyer.
