Youth Saxophone Quartets

Much like a traditional string quartet or a vocal choir, a saxophone quartet brings together four distinct voices from the saxophone family—Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone. Together, these instruments create a surprisingly rich, orchestral sound that can range from smooth classical harmonies to energetic jazz.

Under the direction of DHCSM teaching artist Jeffrey Anthony, playing in a small chamber ensemble is one of the most rewarding ways for a student to grow as a musician. Without a large band surrounding them, every player gets to shine, developing independent musical leadership, precise rhythm, and a deep sense of listening and blend.

Building on the success of our established high school quartet, we are thrilled to expand the program this year with a brand-new group tailored specifically for younger players!

Ensemble Options

• Elementary Saxophone Quartet (Grades 5–8):

  A supportive environment for younger saxophonists to discover small-group playing, build confidence, and refine group rhythm. (Formed as a trio, quartet, or quintet based on enrollment!)

  • Requirement: At least 1 year of playing experience on any saxophone.

• High School Saxophone Quartet (Grades 9–12):

  Our premier high school chamber ensemble, exploring advanced classical, contemporary, and jazz quartet repertoire.
